Jingdezhen China Ceramic Museum (formerly Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum) was proposed by Mr. Guo Moruo and established with funding from the Development Bureau of the Ministry of Culture in 1953. It officially opened to the public in 1954 and relocated to No. 1 Zijing North Road in 2015. It is now a national first-class museum, a national patriotism education demonstration base, a national model of energy-saving public institutions, a national popular science education base, a national research and practice education base for primary and secondary school students, a cross-strait exchange base, the Director Unit of the Ceramic Professional Committee of the Chinese Museum Association, and the Secretary-General Unit of the National Ceramic Culture Museum Alliance. It is the first specialized ceramic museum in China.
The total number of cultural relics in Jingdezhen China Ceramic Museum is over 50,000, including 18 first-grade pieces/sets, 236 second-grade pieces/sets, and 1,387 third-grade pieces/sets. The new museum covers a total area of over 59,000 square meters, with a building area of 32,000 square meters. It consists of 1 permanent exhibition hall, 6 temporary exhibition halls, an academic exchange area, a public activity area, a leisure and business area, an office area, a multi-functional area, and a storage area. It is an internationally, modernly, and informatively designed cultural and educational venue that can meet the needs of collection, exhibition, research, exchange, and training.
